The Last Movie I Saw (Kung Fu Panda)

Nice and funny animated film. For kids? I beg to disagree. It also works for adults. The movie puts across a bare reality that sometimes we let ourselves suffer just to get away from the reality of being us, because we simply don't like ourselves. "There is no secret
ingredient" as what Master Oogway said, it's only you. We just have to believe and look inside our heart and we can find great things there is the core message of this animated film. Having the classic setting (China) and showing the classic martial arts of Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee etc., you will love it more. One of the best cartoon films I've ever seen. Watch it and you will surely enjoy the movie!

Touch Me Not!

finally got my salary today. I suppose to receive it two weeks ago but I did not manage to open an ATM account earlier where our money is being deposited by the school because of my busy sked coaching my students for the regional academic contest.
Alas! all the LCD projectors, microphones, computers and internet connection in the classroom are working now. Oh I could tell.
how indispensable these stuffs are in our teaching—we could save much time, energy and they help a lot for the students to facilitate learning and sustain their interest easily. We got a demonstration on how to use them. How lucky are they (students) for having this kind of state of the art facilities but it turned to be that they won’t see the importance of it. Students usually break all these things (like the last set), thus the office implemented a new policy for the students not to be on the wooden flat form unless their teacher told them to do so That means that they can’t touch any of those teachers’ stuff. And besides they have their own computer inside the classroom and they don’t need to use the LCD projector and microphones for their videoke, hehehe sounds silly but students here really doing that during their free time. They have 5 units computer with internet connection that supposed to be used for their research with
respect to their studies, but classroom turns to an internet cafĂ© during their free time. Games here, chat there, and play “nonsense” stuff everywhere. oh, if I were the director, I better remove those computers, coz it eaten up the time of the students that presume to be intended for their study...unfortunately I am just an ordinary foreign teacher here..huhuhu. Two hundred thousand baht is a big money just to procure such equipment for one classroom only. How I wish that history will not repeat itself and the equipment will last a little longer than before. And the admin will become serious of the punishment to those who violate the policy and stop spoiling the students. Hmmp it’s their money anyway…hehehee (bad cheetah...)
I ate dinner in a French restaurant with my coteachers. We have a nice time eating French food.Hmmm…concerning the “teaching thing", well, I felt reasonably dissatisfied on my Mattayum 4 class today. I taught them about mitosis and meiosis but it seemed that half of the class just heard it and good enough that the rest listened. Teaching Thai students is pretty much harder than teaching Filipino students in view of the fact that their comprehension of English language as medium of instruction is far a long way of that students in the Philippines. And one thing more, in the Phil. you can easily translate difficult terms into a local dialect if you want it to understand by your students. Here, I can’t speak Thai; I should have to deliver my lesson in pure English. I need to speak slowly, clearly and as much as possible unlock all the words that seem Greek to them and some are only simple words but it appears that they have no prior knowledge of what those word mean. The pacing of the lesson is so slow and it requires loads of motivations in order to hold their interest. Nevertheless, I made it to explain the lesson as simple as I could without affecting the quantity and the quality of it (‘hope so). Wooooh another day is gone and tomorrow is a rest day, a time to contemplate and introspect on how to improve my teaching for the day ahead. Without doubt, prayers are of great help. Let’s call it a night!

My First Video

Advanced Merry Christmas!

I just finished watching a nice movie called “Christmas with the Kranks”. It was a touchy one that made me apprehend more the significance and fundamental nature of celebrating of such very important holiday by the Christian. I can’t hold my tears to run over my face thinking that I would celebrate Christmas away from my family this year. Even so, I am happy as it makes me realize how important they are to me-they are my life and the whole thing. I can’t hang around to see the shimmering Christmas lights, children singing Christmas carol, colorful Christmas tree, and the like. Though I am in the Buddhist country now, it can’t hold me back to celebrate the Christmas and savor the real essence of it: the great love of God to the humanity. Advanced Merry Christmas to all!

A Priceless Present

A new and an effective insight I learned today in so far as dealing with Thai students inside the classroom is concerned. Showing to them your full authority and punishing them for their irrational mistakes seem effective to maintain the learning ambiance along the duration of the class. It is a sort of success in my part with regard to classroom management. Prathom 1 is my best class as ever- spending time with kids is always the best thing of my day.
After my class at 5 pm I have a chat with my wife in YM. We conversed about the kids, plans in the future and expressed our feelings on how we miss each other. I always crave to hear about my children. I learned that my baby Aliah has started now to have teeth. Oh, I fail to see a lot of things of her progress. How I wish I would be there when she utters her first word and make her first step, and all that. How sad that I wouldn’t have this chance to witness them all. I terribly miss them indeed.
How sweet my thai mother is. She gave me this cute present, a brown little puppy stuff toy. I really appreciate it,, though it costs only about for 10 baht, but the love and sincerity in it seems to be beyond price. Thanks Mom!
An unexpected invitation for dinner came. The couple, my colleague, teacher Alan and teacher Venus invited me to eat dinner with them and our exchange student from the US, Susan. It was a nice dinner with spaghetti, boko pie and fruits. That means, I have to put everything that suppose for my dinner inside the fridge. I can heat and eat them tomorrow anyway Hehehe.

Zilch!

It’s an idle day. Monday and Saturday are my free days, nothing much to do now. I went to the bank to send money to my family and deposit the last payment for my motorbike to my friend’s account. I used machine to do that, it's cool, no need to queue and no hassle at all.
One thing I hate during my holiday is washing my clothes. But I got no choice since my wife is not here, I have to do it by myself, I enjoyed playing with bubbles anyway hehehe. After napping for an hour or two in the afternoon, I and my best friend go through out the different parts of the world: visit wonderful places, meet different people with diverse convictions and beliefs, play games and do a lot of things. I have this thinking to label our present time as “the era of fingertips”, which IT and fingertips work mutually.
I got to rest now and gear myself up for tomorrow’s challenge. Well, Good luck to me!

The 1st Bday Cake I Ever Had

Today is my birthday. I got two 1st time experiences: This is the 1st time that I celebrate birthday away from my family and my country and My 1st time as well to have a birthday cake after 28 long years. Well it is obvious that I don’t have enough money to buy cake at one time. I feel so happy because I realized that many people love me. My family greets me and makes me feel how special I am to them. My Friends in Bangkok call as well to say happy birthday .At length, I celebrate it differently this time. What it makes special? Well, I don’t know exactly why I feel it that way; ‘hope that it wouldn’t be my last birthday hehehe…My students, teacher Alan and Teacher Venus eat cake with me. It is a simple celebration but I can’t hide the pleasure in my heart. My family also celebrates in the Philippines. My brother told me that they cook something for my birthday; it’s just as if that we are celebrating together. Another year added to my age and I am glad that I am picking up the pace of becoming a mature and better person. My only plea to God is to bestow me more years to live in this world in order that I can help my family further and prove to my parents and to everybody of my worth. Happy Birth Day to me!.

Empty Stomach

How sad to see that while many people enjoying everything the world can offer, down the street on the other hand there are children who live with their empty stomach and succumb to hunger. When was the last time we realized that we are more than lucky for being not one of them. Poverty is crippling. The best way to combat it is EDUCATION. This is a poem of my brother which he made amid of his starvation while having a quest to have a better future.

Empty Stomach

I I wake up early on the morning
with prickly feeling..
I don’t know how I can explain
the chaos within my vein…
that kills me like a flame
hundreds of words I can’t take..now I am insane
looking for nothing
but a rubbish of pain…
in my stomach that couldn’t tame
the ratification of rain
that filling my unconscious brain…
I grieve when I saw my pocket without cents
now I cry with all my senses
engulfed with thorn of roses…
I hate this emptiness…!!!!!
my sight became so vague…
my hands are glued..
where I am now? but….no
I left my soul coldness…
now I felt helpless
to the world we called…"EMPTINESS".

Great day with my angels!

I had a great time with my Prathom 1 students (Grade 1). The children were so sweet. It‘s fun to spend time with them. Peach, ( the one in the pic) my fave student in the class gave me a piece of wafer. Oh he’s so sweet. Spending time with them is just as if I am having time with my kids that I left in the Philippines. I miss them so much. I had a reading lesson for my Prathom 4 students (grade 4). I want to improve their accent in speaking english which at present is pretty much "terrible" hehehe. It calls for an uphill struggle. At any rate, I know that what I am doing in one way or another hepls them not only for the enhancement of their speech but also for them to be acquainted with the English words used in science subject. I taught them to pronounce the words correctly. How it's going? Well, they should have tried harder and made a sort of tongue exercise to put it in a right track.
We (I and other foreign teachers) spent the whole afternoon listening to the program with the visitors coming from different schools and ministry of education. It was a stupid instance for I don’t understand of what they are talking about and what they are apt to. Oh how I wish I can invent software that can mechanically translate different languages into English. An illusive dream, is it not?
I went to the motor shop to install the new side mirror of my motorbike. Great, I got a “Mai Pen Rai” for their service (means free, mai pen rai means it’s ok nevermind). Many things I want to do afterwards but none of these come to materialize, even the plan to buy something for my dinner. I spent the rest of the day hanging out with my best friend – “My PC”…hehehe one of my friends told me that the world is on my fingertips and he is pretty much true coz my “best friend” let me keep in touch to the different global community thru my fingertips. Hmm…I got to sleep now….let’s call it a night.
